Welcome vs open

"Amazing shop! Very friendly knowledgeable and helpful people. Welcoming to all."

Above is an actual quote from a bicycle shop review--I enjoy that they hit on the word, WELCOME.

Every establishment has a open sign, but is that the same as a welcome sign?

Open means we are here. WELCOME states we are here for you...very inviting.

“Enter freely and of your own free will!”

Staff play a critical part in feeling welcome to a business, they are the first to make contact, the first face of the business--the first interaction is very important. It sets the tone for the next few minutes, hours or even days.

Make all feel welcome--no phoniness; be genuine, be real and their experience will be  felt with a welcoming tone.

Besides, who wants to be welcomed by zombies just looking at a clock or even a watch...you know the ones who lean against the wall and say, "do you need help?"

Being engaged, saying hello, hand shake and a good old fashion introduction is a welcoming experience.

Welcome is better than open; but you better be open on time to feel welcomed.

Customers first!!!
